CREATIVE ARTS SUMMER SCHOOL

This exciting 2 week inclusive course is fully residential with students experiencing life on a state-of-the art university campus and also in the university accommodation.  It has been specifically designed for young students with a keen interest in the arts, providing them with a stimulating experience to explore creative pathways and develop skills for the future. 

It’s a hands-on course, combines creative teaching with a variety of workshops and practical sessions. Students are encouraged to experiment with a mix of arts subjects, to explore creative style and understanding of the creative process from idea development to finished piece. Through discussions, presentations and creative multi-disciplinary projects, they will produce work for their portfolio and develop skills that benefit current school studies and beyond such as research and analysis, problem solving and working in groups. 

Afternoon creative sessions will take place on campus where students can enjoy a range of pre-planned activities, workshops and entertainment. There are also activities and day trips planned for the weekend.

It’s the perfect course to learn, grow in confidence and have fun all whilst mixing with students from around the globe.

Dulwich College - English + Theatre & Dance

Dulwich College Summer School

For four half days each week the course builds skills in acting, singing, dance and stagecraft. In addition, students have morning English classes in small groups of 12 to 15 and join our other students for two excursions per week as well as participating in the lively social programme every evening. One highlight of the course is a visit to a London Musical show in a West End Theatre. The English plus Theatre and Dance course is taught by subject specialist teachers and is open to all ability levels including beginners.The course is based on the campus of Dulwich College, a famous school for boys located in the affluent village of Dulwich on the outskirts of London. This historic school boasts excellent facilities.

Bosworth Independent College - Film Making

Film Making

Students take General English lessons in the mornings. Each weekday afternoon students will engage in film making workshops, excluding Wednesday when they will take part in a full day excursion. The workshops will cover a variety of elements of film making including planning (pre-production), filming (production) and editing (post-production). Students will cover the use of the camera, lighting and audio equipment and will learn to use professional filming techniques alongside looking at various genres of film. They will aim to capture their
story through camera, lighting and sound, bringing it all together in post-production using professional editing techniques and software. The course includes visual effects workshops including the use of the green screen. Workshops are aimed at students with little or no experience of film making. Finally, students will view their work on the big screen at Bosworth Hall and have a chance to critique and review.

Arts & Crafts

Students take General English lessons each morning. Each weekday afternoon students will engage in art workshops, excluding Wednesday when they will take part in a full day excursion. The workshops provide a creative focus for those students who have an interest in art and creative design. They will include working with acrylics, pastel, water colours and pencils as well as exploring a variety of skills and techniques connected with Fine Art. Students will also have the opportunity to explore silk painting, printing techniques, modroc sculptures, batik, fabric painting and felt making. Workshops can be tailored to meet individual needs and will work for students with some experience or students with little or no experience in Art. All art materials are provided.
