Students will learn to;
English as Additional Language (EAL)
The EAL course welcomes students at all levels of English proficiency. You will be placed in groups depending on your level, with the goal of improving your English skills. The course includes 20 hours of tuition per week taught by highly experienced, Bryanston EAL-trained staff.
In the second week, you will develop skills for a Public Speaking qualification*, where you will present on a topic of your choice, recite a poem and take part in a Q&A session on your chosen subject. An external examiner will assess your skills on the final Friday of the course. Successful candidates will receive an ESB (English Speaking Board) certification, recognising their achievement.
Each afternoon, you will enjoy an array of activities using our extensive state-of-the-art facilities across our stunning campus, including outdoor sports, equestrian, skateboarding, swimming, djing and much more.

Students are streamed by age and ability and are tested at the beginning of the course and placed in a class of the appropriate level. During the course, teachers monitor students’ progress and an academic report and a certificate are awarded at the end of the course. Our syllabus is designed to suit the needs of our students, providing them with practical language skills. The aim of the course is to improve English comprehension skills, along with grammar and pronunciation, as well as building confidence in communicating through English.
General English classes are comprised of three hours per day of teaching time, five days per week. All English teachers are suitably qualified and our courses are accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK.
Language Activities In addition to General English classes, all students on the English plus Activity courses experience a wide range of activities designed to give them the opportunity to develop new skills, whilst using their spoken English in a specific context. Students move on to a new activity each day, including: journalism, creative writing/storytelling, mindfulness workshops, vlogging, cookery, drama, and arts and crafts. Classes last for 90 minutes and focus on the development of speaking and listening skills.
Sports: A fantastic mixture of sports are offered to students each day. They can practice their skills or use the opportunity to learn new ones with our sports and activity leaders, who ensure that the highest levels of safety are maintained at all times. week.Activities Include

The Junior Academic course offers young students a fun and hands on learning experience. Specially designed to engage young learners, this course offers a range of stimulating learning experiences in English.
Class sizes are small (maximum 10 students per class) and students are taught by specialist teachers, offering a range of subjects from Art, DT and Performing Arts to Science, Mathematics, ICT and Humanities. Students will receive 15 hours of English plus 10 hours of other academic subjects per week.
Aimed at encouraging experiential and thematic learning, students will spend at least one afternoon a week outside the classroom on project work in the local environment. Fun, active and stimulating, this course will build confidence in communicative English as well as preparing students academically.
This course is ideal as a stand-alone course for students who wish to boost their English level and confidence or for those wishing to enter into the British independent school system.

TWO courses are offered: Intensive English Language and Advanced English. The course is run alongside the school's day camps for local children, and all activities are shared between British and international children, resulting in total immersion in the English language. Having run for ten years, the summer school is delivered and staffed by Bromsgrove School employees and ex-pupils, providing a safe and comfortable experience. Pastoral care is second to none, with the summer school adhering to the same high standards as Bromsgrove's year-round programme.
Course fees are fully inclusive and cover airport transfers, accommodation, meals and snacks, laundry service, all lessons and activities, two day trips and one evening excursion per week, and transfers to/from Birmingham or Heathrow airport. The activities sessions are also attended by local day pupils so that the international pupils have the chance to practise their English naturally. Activities on offer include a massive selection – sports, creative arts and technology, dance, fitness, cookery, team games and just about anything else you can think of! Full day excursions are included to destinations such as Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, Shakespeare’s Stratford, Oxford and London.
Bromsgrove is one of the top ten day and boarding schools in the UK but also excels at sports - they have featured as a top six school for sport, across 26 different sports for many years.
Age groups are 8-11 and 12 -15 (parents are welcome to accompany children aged 5-7).
For 2024, there is a choice of multi activities with local British children attending the day camps, STEM, or Performing arts. STEM Course Juniors (8 – 11) and Seniors (12-15)
Children spend half their day improving their English during fun and interactive lessons. Ther remainder of the day is spent alongside British children attending the day camps, giving your child the opporunity to immerse themselves full in an English-speaking environment.
The Intensive English course i designed to develop practical language skills using a topic-based approach, together with debating and presentations across 20 hours per week.
Children have activity options: football, tennis, swimming, volleyball,, basketball, trampolining - arts & craft (cookery, jewellery making and more, STEM activities - robotics, computer coding, astronomy plus performing arts - singing, dance and drama.
This summer school is managed and operated entirely by Bromsgrove School and its staff, maintaining the same high standards as the year-round school programme with outstanding pastoral care. Many of the new year round students attend the summer school before enroling in the main school.
